NOW ENROLLING

Every phoenix has a story before the rise. Whatever yours looks like, MVCS is where students 16 to 21 finish their diploma, earn career credentials, and start again stronger.

The Phoenix: MVCS adopted the phoenix as its official mascot in 2014. The phoenix, a legendary bird that rises from its own ashes, symbolizes rebirth, resilience, and the power of transformation. For MVCS, the phoenix is more than just a mascot—it is a reflection of our students’ journeys.

Many of our students have faced significant personal, academic, or social challenges that disrupted their education. Choosing to return to stay in school requires immense courage, determination, and the willingness to rise above past struggles. Like the phoenix, our students are not defined by where they’ve been, but by their strength to begin again—stronger, wiser, and more focused.

The phoenix reminds us that setbacks are not the end of the story—they are the beginning of a new chapter. Our school exists to support that transformation, providing the tools, guidance, and belief that every student has the potential to excel and be resilient.

Vision Statement

It is our belief that all students will learn through innovative practices, structured discipline, and school, family, and community support. As an outcome, our students will pursue self-determined goals and will experience academic achievement.

Our Mission

The Mahoning Valley Community School will provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for "at-risk" and/or drop out students. Students will have the opportunity to recover academic credit and explore educational interests while developing
vocational skills.
